In a total laparoscopic hysterectomy, the uterus and cervix are surgically removed. Ovaries and tubes will also be removed if required. This procedure is used to treat conditions like fibroid, tissue growth on the inner surface of the uterus, severe vaginal bleeding, infection of the fallopian tubes and ovaries, etc. After reviewing your lab results, consult with a general practitioner and an anesthesiologist who will determine your overall health problems and if you can have surgery. The patient will need to discontinue smoking and some current medications at the doctor's advice. The prior day will be used to clear the bowels. Before the scheduled time of the surgery, you have six hours to go without eating or drinking anything. Before the procedure, take a shower and refrain from applying any makeup, nail polish, or cosmetics.
